Triumph TR6 - Wrist Pins
Anybody know where to get TR6 wrist pins. We pressed mine out & found pitting so I'd like to replace them. Two are almost perfect, two are not too bad and two are a little cruddy. Appears to be a rust problem due to water in the oil (from rusted frost plug behind water pump as DPO had totally filled engine with used oil and stored on its side so appears water stuck around the pistons.) TR6 buddy Steve says otherwise we will clean up carefully with emery cloth (500 grit) and simply ream the new small end bushings to fit. Moss has no wrist pins & TRF no longer has their UK supplier but will try to source elsewhere. Comments on where to locate and whether any of you guys think I really need to replace with new would be welcome. Like Rick, I have at least $2500 into this rebuild and don't want to lose it over something stupid. Thanks. Bob 1976 - TR6

Revington TR in the UK has them. About 12 bucks each, then shipping on top of that. You could try Rimmers over there as well...................

Bob, Check with British Parts Northwest (BPNW). I bought almost all of my engine rebuild parts from them (so did Rick Crawford) and they are very reasonable quality parts. But... I'm not sure you can buy wrist pins seperate from the pistons. They may only come with new pistons. Check with them though. Henry |

Bob, If you want to go whole hog, I think that PAECO in Birmingham Alabama has titantium wrist pins available for the TR-6. They also have titantium connectiong rods and billet pistons!! Don't know the ROI, but...!! If you have cdI, check out the file on sources of supply. There's a listing of all the suppliers that Rick Crawford and I could find when Rick compiled the cd. db

Guys Anybody have a comment about cleaning up the old wrist pins and reaming the new small end bushings to fit? I don't mind spending the extra few $$ but we have a target date of installing the new engine on the Victoria Day (Canadian holiday - May 24th) weekend. I will definitely check out the alternative sources mentioned in this thread. Thanks. Bob 1976 - TR6
