Triumph TR6 - Windshield...removing scratches
Has anyone had any success with removing wiper etch from your windscreen glass using any of the commercial produts offered out there? If so, what were the products and where did you get them? Thanx for any response DS

Dennis, I went through this recently, and a guy that does chip repair and glass replacement told me the amount of glass you would have to remove to rid yourself of the scratches would leave you with a distorted view. I have a distorted view of things anyway, but that's another story! Bottom line is two local glass shops said replace it, it wasn't worth the time to try and repair it, and there weere no guarantees on the outcome. I ended up replacing the windshield, $165 installed, even though is wasn't a "Triplex", which might be important to some, I was thrilled to have glass that I could see through! Probably wasn't the answer you wanted to hear, but I hope it helps. happy moToRing........... Rod

It seems there are a fair amount of commercial products out there that claim to fix scratches on glass as long as they are not too deep. rule of thumb; if you can feel it with your finger nail, it's probably too deep to repair. The following was an answer from a fellow in Wisconsin on the MG BBS: "Here is the one I am trying" http://www.janvil.com/glass_revive.htm "My Classic Car did a segment on polishing glass, they tried the Eastwood kit" "Here is the article." http://www.myclassiccar.com/MCCTV/2001Season/016109/tip016109.shtml "Eastwood makes a kit for fine scratches and deeper ones." "Here is their list for the deep scratch kit." http://www.eastwoodco.com/jump.jsp?itemID=2024&itemType=PRODUC -------------------------------------- The reviews aren't to encouring on the eastwood product.... I may stop in at the local auto glass installer tommorrow and get his two cents.... DS
