Triumph TR6 - TR6 overheat at higway speed
| My 73 TR6 only overheats at highway speed. Stop lights and backroads ar no problem. I can drive for hours stopping and going but 10 minutes on the highway in 70 degree weather sends me almost into the red. Any ideas. |

| I will assume the rad is full of antifreeze. Air bubbles in the system may cause the temp probe to be in vapor not liquid and will result in high indication. This would be more pronounced when the car is running under higher heat load (at highway speeds). Ensure the system is full as full can be. I suspect your fan belt is loose or water pump not in good condition. The fan belt drives the water pump. At high speed if it is slipping you will get hotter readings. If the water pump is no good- it will show up more under highway conditions. A partially blocked rad would also have problems removing the heat in highway conditions. |
