Triumph TR6 - Tappets
My heavy duty tappets arrived today and look a bit different than the stock ones. They have a single hole drilled in the side for I believe oil drainage and have a dark dusty film on them. My OE tappets were very bright and shiny even after 75k... Is this a type of protective coating that needs to be cleaned off prior to installation? I must say these tappets are pretty darn ugly. I am almost afraid to use them. I have included a picture...

| Of course you want to wipe them off with a spirit soaked cloth first. Use crocus cloth on stubborn spots, then lube 'em up before installing. |

| Brent Another gent I spoke with earlier said it's a film that's left over from the nitrate process and not to worry just clean and lube as you mentioned. |
