Triumph TR6 - Speedo help

My speedo's odo locked between 59000 and 60000 when trying to make the jump to 60K...I took it apart tonight and didn't see anything a miss but after a "little" fiddling I got it to cleanly hit 60001 in the window. Is there something in particular I should check before closing it up?

Hi JT

Were your dials not tight together when you first opened it? Sounds like the engagement notch from the 3rd place digit 9 to the 4th place digit 9 was not engaging or is missing. (or it might be the 4th place digit 9 to the 5th place digit) Check if the notch that is supposed to engage the next digit is gone. If it isn't and you tightened up the dials, it should be OK. If the engagement notch is missing you will probably experience the same problem from 69999 to 70000.

At the rate I put miles on it I can endure it every 10K! The numbers were all together, just wouldn't come up into the window at 60K, I have them in the window now at 60001...I just thought the little yellow colored engagement pawl looked funny with out any sort of spring retaining it up against the yellow gear....there seems to be a sort of "hook" on it that looks like a small spring would go to but I can't see where it would hook to if there was one.

To bad you don't have a spare spedo cable.
you could spin it up with a drill.

I think I've got an old one off my Bonneville that will work. I'll dig for it later.
