Triumph TR6 - one step fwd...one step back

I took my speedo and tach off today to clean behind the glass and adjust my tach face to allow for proper illumination and after I re-installed them I tested all electrics in the car and now my hazards blow the fuse and when hard lined through the fuse they make the courtesy light blink and not the bulb on the switch plus It will kick pwr through the radio interrupting the face display and cracking the speakers plus only the front hazards blink..YEAH!!! I love British electrics and PO's workmanship! After fiddling about I got the hazards to work momentarily right (front back/switch light) then after shut-off they went back to crap on re-try!

Jt, also check to make sure you reinstalled the voltage regulator/stablizer on the back of the speedometer correctly.

That only deals with the gauges. Shouldn't hamper the rest

What kind of hazard switch do you have?

My 69 developed a short in the hazard/blinker switch and was blowing the same fuse. The 69's hazard switch is right between the tach and speedo and switches from regular turn signals to hazards. . You may have triggered the short while cleaning. I dismantled the switch and cleaned it up. It is just a toggle that connects 2 different circuits.

I know there were some some changes to the hazard wiring and switch in later years so you may have another problem.

A bare wire touching the speedo or tach cables or bodies may be grounding the circuit.

If it is affecting the hazards, the turn signal indicator bulb that is in the tach (speedo?) may be grounded as well some how. Or perhaps the hazard indicator bulb may be grounded.

Good luck. I hate electrical problems- they can be pretty tough to isolate.
