Triumph TR6 - Oil in differential selection

Hello,

It is time to replace my TR6's differential oil seals. And the big question is: shall I use synthetic or not? I searched archives (not an easy task) and found contradictory opinions. The problem was with yellow metal bearings and sulphur additives. At the end I had more confuse feelings about the subject. Some believe in GL5 others GL4 and others non-detergent engine oil. The only thing that was absent was the use of castor bean oil.

Could someone gives me the lastest on that topic?

Thank you,

I think you are OK with Synthetic oil in the DIF as I beleive their is no bronze parts in the DIF. There is bronze parts in the tranny.

Fine Rick,

I will follow your advice,

Redline makes a synthetic GL4 called MTF 90. That said, GL5 in the diff shouldn't be aproblem since the yellow metal degradation is usually limited to transmissions because of the heat.
