Triumph TR6 - Newfoundland Targa-Bob Evans

Bob

Looks like I wont be NL (NF for oldies)(Newfoundland & Labrador for the rest of the world) for the Targa this year (perhaps next year) perhaps other on the web would be interested in the challenge! It would be great to see more "6's" on the Targa. Do you have plans to "participate or officiate" this year?

Anyone ready for the challenge of the Targa (tourist class)?

Les:
Last year I was stage coordinator for the kick-off first stage but alas, problems with the city of St. John's has killed Targa in the capital city for all time. The final stage will probably be in Torbay (adjacent to St. John's) again this year. It costs about $5000 to enter as a participant so unless I go on the road with Targa as an official, I will not be participating this year in any capacity. It is a good event, probably the only one where participants can actually race relatively "normal" cars on town and city streets - legal speeding - in this country anyway. There are various classes from basically stock to professionally race-prepared cars, manufacturers entries from Daimler/Jeep/Chrysler and Subaru, etal a gaggle of Porsches, Volvos, Corvettes, Minis, Lotus, Mustang, Ferarri, a couple MGB's and one TR6. car folks who have travelled to Nfld. have volunteered as course marshals and have thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Go Google folks.

Cheers,
Bob
