Triumph TR6 - Main and Rod Bearings

Does anybody know where I can purchase Clevite or Vanderval brand main and rod bearings?

TRF uses King brand, but they're out of stock.
Moss supplies XRN, but I can't find much in the way of endorsement on them.
Victoria British use "multiple suppliers from around the world" and was not able to tell me what brand I would receive if I ordered them today.

I thought I read or heard something about Vanderval not being available anymore....?

Anybody care to weigh in?

I believe that Vandervall bearings are no longer made, at least not under that name. The tri-metal bearings available at TRF or BPNW are as close as you can get now, or so I am told.

www.bpnorthwest.com shows the tri-metal bearings in stock on their website - have you tried them? I have never heard a bad word about BPNW.

I used to have an e-mail address of a guy who had a load of NOS Vandervall bearings (for about three times the BPNW price) - I will try to dig it out if you like, but I would be wary about using those now - I bought some NOS Vandervall bearings for my Stag and they turned out to have some strange corrosion on the bearing face. Could have just been the way that batch was stored, of course. I got them from a UK supplier who said that all of the sets they had were similarly spoiled.

Alistair, thanx for the response.
I contacted BPNW and got a very quick answer to my inquiry. They show 3 types available for purchase at their site but it wasn't clear what brand the first offering was.

Their response is below:

"The Bi-Metal are also made by King. For street driving you will have
no problems with the Bi-metals. They are very forgiving and you will
get good bearing life out of them. The Tri-Metals are very hard and
will last a very long time like the original bearings that came in
your car. But you have to be very good about changing the oil, even
if the car sits, you have to keep the oil clean. Hope this helps and
have a good week.

For the record they offer King brand in Bi-metal and Tri-metal.
Also, AE brand which I can assume, are Bi-metal.

thanx for the tip.

Image attached is my new grand-daughter Lily Anna, backing the six out the driveway.
Not to worry, I only let her go up and down the drive, too young to go on the road yet.
(my wife said I must post this pic)

Okay Dennis, your wife started this. Here's another young TR6 fan.... grand daughter Sarah. She's letting me drive this time. Great to see a new generation of TR owners getting indoctrinated early.

Alistair. The valve cover arrived in Florida and seems in great shape. I'll take it home in April and get on with installation.
