I have a 76 TR6 and every once in a while I will be driving at night and the lights will go out and if I turn the wheel either left or right they come back on again ... I have search for the problem but no success ... it just goes back to being normal for a while ... any ideas??

I am not sure but does the 76 have the light switch on the column still? Sounds like a loose connection in the wiring running up the steering wheel or where the switch is. Might be where the wires leave the column and go into the wiring harness. Might be the switch with a dirty contact and steering wheel movement makes it recontact.

That is where I would look first.

Next I would check if the wires are in contact with the steering box at the front. Could be rubbing there but this is highly unlikely.

I hate intermittant electrical problems. Next to impossible to find at times.

Good Luck.

Switch is dash Mounted. Check the dip switch . when you turn the wheel something might be pulling or hitting the connectors. Pull all those apart. Look them over and reconnect. See if the problem is still there.

Mclellan,
Check the ground at the front center of the car under the radiator. Make sure the ground is good AND the grounding wire is not frayed.

If you look at the 76 electrical schematic, you will see that control ( including the on/off switch) of the high and low beams runs through the "dimmer/ flash to pass switch". This is the switch on the column. I think your problem is the switch itself. Turning the steering wheel might give you that "connection" back.
