Triumph TR6 - Heavy Steering.

My '74 TR6 has always had typical TR6 steering -- heavy at rest, but relatively light under way. This year, however, the steering has become heavy under way, as well, almost as if something were pushing against it. It's particularly noticeable when moving slowly and turning the wheel full lock to the right; yet, on completing a turn the steering self-corrects quickly and accurately. I've had the rack and trunnions greased/oiled, and nothing seems amiss. If anyone has experienced anything like this, I would appreciate hearing what they found, and how to correct it.

Well , just to wet you whistle , I am going to experiment with EPS in my Wedge and I think there is plenty of room underneath in the 6

Is the tire pressure OK?You didn't change the tires did you? Tie rod ends still movable?

What kind of tires? Maybe tire belts coming apart?

I had the battery cable get caught up with mine (at the steering column) in one direction causing a hard to turn situation (I believe right but never left) but a real fast return.
