Triumph TR6 - fuel guage calibration

Have a 1972 tr6 and the fuel guage does not show the proper level. It goes almost all the way up to F when full but is on E when there is still half a tank. Can I some how adjust the sender unit? Maybe bend the wire with the float on it? any suggestions.

The MG uses 0-70 ohms while the TR uses 0-90
