Triumph TR6 - Engine Mounts

Hi Folks.

Is it best to fit the engine mounts to the frame or the engine before dropping the engine in.

Thanks

Engine...I think No wait, there are two parts...the bracket on the engine and the rubber motor mount. Make sure the bracket is on the engine. The motor mounts can be either I think, but when I removed the engine, I disconnected the motor mounts first, then removed the engine with the brackets still on the motor. Reverse order would have the engine back in the bay, then the rubber mounts attached to the motor mount brackets and to the frame.

I think the manual tells you the recommended way - steel mount bracket on the engine at both sides, rubber on the engine bracket at the passenger side and on the chassis on the driver's side (to clear the steering wheel). I tried it that way and just couldn't get the passenger side to clear the bracket (as I recall, the rubber block attaches to the chassis with the block to the rear of the chassis bracket, and I couldn't get the engine far enough back because of the transmission mount or something like that), so I wound up removing three of the four bolts holding the steel bracket to the engine on that side, and then rotating the bracket around the remaining (top rear) bolt - solved the problem, and saved me some time with the engine on a cheap, Chinese made engine crane! It was no problem to replace the three bolts, by the way.

Hope that is some use.
Cheers
