Triumph TR6 - Dipstick Q
Silly question BUT where does the oil fall on the dipstick when full? Top of the top line...between the two lines? Quart low when at the bottom line?

Most likely you'll get different answers because it really depends on how deep the dipstick pipe goes into the block. When I rebuilt my engine, I tapped the pipe as far as I could, then with the oil pan removed, I re-inserted the dipstick and did my measurements. Note on photo that I put arrows were the 2 lines are located on the dipstick and measured in relation to the oil pump screen location.

JT... notwithsatnding Benji's input I believe my rebuilt engine is stock and when I change oil and replace with 4 litres of Castrol 20-50 and 1 litre of Lucas Oil Additive the oil level on the dipstick is exactly at the top line. I add 2 oz. of Rick C's recommended EOS afterward. Of course new cars are the same. On the line is the maximum safe level and the bottom line is down 1 litre. My 76 Six works the same FWIW. Ken

Thanks Ken...thats where mine falls...I just bought some "Lucas" but usually run STP which is 10% ZDDP according to the manufacturer....I'm interested to see how the Lucas performs...I've read plenty of pros and cons.
