Triumph TR6 - Body off
Does anyone have a drawing of the dimensions of the body to chassis fixing points so that I can make a carrying frame for the body whist I'm carrying out major body and chassis renovation. This is on a TR5/250 which I gather is the same as the TR6.

If you are speaking of the load bearing points of contact between frame and body tub why not create a wooden support for the contact points... you know extactly where they are if you have a car that has not as yet been disassembled. A level could be used to make sure the tub is sitting even-steven and Bob's Your Uncle. No?

The Bentley Maintenance Manual has the dimensions of the vehicle and the frame laid out in a drawing and may provide you much of what you need. I too am close to doing what you're about to do and intended to fabricate a steel frame to maintain alignment of all the various geometry while the tub was off the chassis, but Don Kelley pointed out that a wood mock up aptly fulfills the requirement. TRF VOL Ii, PLate FAS, page 352 shows the shipping dunnage for a complete body shell. I queried TRF asking about the dimension of this item but was told that it was provided by a subcontractor and the dimensions were not, or would not be forthcoming. Bummer. Looks alike a great tool particularly if you added wheels to roll it about. db
