Triumph TR6 - 71 Seat Frame wire
I'm rebuilding the seats on my 71 TR6. I got the covers, foam, diaphragms, webbing and all that stuff for Christmas. After putting it off for a few months, I took both seats out, stripped the old stuff off the frames and got rid of all the rust. I'm ready to paint them. The only broken part I have found is the lower wire on both sides of the driver's seat frame. It is a heavy gauge wire and somebody really jury rigged it to get around the problem in the past. Is there a source for that part, or do I need to fine some steel wire in that gauge and bend my own? I'm thinking that would be relatively easy, but don't know where to look for it. The other interesting thing was that the passenger seat frame was in much better shape than the driver frame. There wasn't any bad rust on either of them, but a lot of surface stuff. They are ready for a good coat of rustoleum, but now I have to solve the lower wire problem. Any suggestions? As usual, thanks.

Welding wire or rods worked perfect. I went to the local Ace Hardware store. The weldable steel wire is exactly the same diameter and seems to be virtually identical to what is on the car. It was fairly easy to bend with my bench vise and some big pliars. If I knew how to post a picture, I would take one and post it. The frames look good.

John, fairly easy to post pics now. Just stick them on your computer somewhere ,hit upload and then go to where it is. Then hit submit. If it says it is to big, mine does always as my phone is 5MB, then resize about 60% and your golden.
