Triumph TR3 - Windshield fitting

A question for you Triumph guys from an MG guy. Upon fitting a new windscreen seal at the cowl, I found that the seal does not mate up with the top of the cowl. There is about a 1/2" gap between the seal and the top of the cowl when the windscreen is bolted tight.
The original seal was quite rippled across the cowl but, I do remember that it still fit better than this new seal. Any ideas?? Thanks

Hey guys, Thanks in advance if you were going to respond to this thread. After writing it I returned to the shop to check things out and realized that I had put the seal in the frame backwards. I first put it in the logical way so that the seal pointed toward the front of the car. Well duh!! These cars are not logical at all. I turned the seal over and everything fits and seals just fine.
