near as I can tell the dirrerance between Whitworth (55 deg) and SAE (60 deg) are the threads included angle and the no. of threads per inch might very between the two for any giver dia.

I am just finishing up a complete restoration of a 1960 Morgan +4, which shares an engine and lots of electrical parts with your car. I have done it all without whitworth wrench set, but at some cost. Time was lost and I am replacing almost all the fastenings with new ones; mostly stainless. In a few cases, I've reused old fastenings of odd sizes, but most were BSF which has different threads per inch. A company called Metric and Multistandard Components, in Hawthorne, New York is helpfull and the catalogue is a wealth of information.

Hi, I've had TR-3's for 30 years and used SAE wrenches (7/16, 1/2, 9/16 very common)and fine threaded nuts and bolts. I was told that I would need Whitworth wrenches when I bought the car, but honestly, I think that was from an earlier time period in British car history. In other words, don't worry about it. If you need common bolts and nuts today, go to the hardware store. If you need specialty fasteners, like fender nuts (square with a box called capture), head bolts, interior screws, etc. , order from TRF or Moss.
