Triumph TR3 - TR3 Trailers

Back in 1961-2 when I bought my first TR3 new, someone was selling trailers for the TR3 which looked like the back third of the vehicle, ulilizing the rear fenders and trunk lid...painted the same as the car...nice looking and functional.

Were these factory production trailers? Are there any available anywhere?

Thanks....

I never saw any S-T advertising about trailers for the TR3A so I have to assume that someone was making these from TR's where the front end was badly damaged in an accident.

I've seen some small trailers where the owner bought a small trailer and attached a roof box onto it. At VTR/TRF Summer Party in 2003, I saw a small trailer like this where the owner of a GT6 had attached a child's bed made of fibergalss onto the trailer. The bed was a neat looking race car like a Viper or a Corvette convertible (to let the kid get in and go to sleep). He had built a top for the bed which was shaped like the hood, windshield and fast-back roof which he could remove to put his gear inside. It was painted bright yellow like his GT6 and it looked like he was trailering a real neat race car, till you got up close and saw it was much smaller. Another option is the small one the touring bikers trail behind their motorbikes.

But what do you need to carry. In 1993, my wife and I toured for 13 days (2300 miles) without a trailer and without a luggage rack. Packed everthing inside the trunk and rear seat area. In September, we drove 1300 miles to the coast of Maine and to Cape Cod for 8 days. No rack and no trailer.

Don Elliot:

Thanks for the suggestions. I agree that you don't need a trailer. (In 1961 my wife and I camped our way across Canada and back...tent and all...to attend a Conference in Baniff requiring dress cloths with only a luggage rack).

If my recollection serves me, these Triumph look-alike trailers were cool looking and would make a nifty addition to this roadster....Thank you for you comments.
