Triumph TR3 - tr3 tr4 mix?
Hello everyone, is it possible to put a TR4 engine on a TR3 frame without taking off the front plate on the engine {which has the motor mounts on it}? I think i am scared that the bonnet may hit when i put the body back on it. P.S. anyone know the approximate space between the carbs and the bonnet on a TR3? THANKS FOR ANY HELP!

Anything's possible, but you'd better just exchange the front plate.

Not absolutely sure but the front engine plate appears to be the same for both the TR3 and TR4 while the engine mounts differ. If this is true you should probably remove the TR4 mounts and use the TR3 engine mounts with steady brackets. Also the TR4 torque reaction arm should be removed if it is mounted on a TR3 frame. Check a parts book before doing anything to be sure.
