Triumph TR3 - TR3 Top Cooing hose
| Does anyone have a source for a high quality upper rad hose for a tr3 ( the ribbed one between the rad and the thermostat housing). A couple of years ago, I bought a eplacement hose on spec, as my hose was about 30 yrs old - but still working fine. I bought a new Moss one (looked vy nice, with fabric covering) It cracked when I tghtened the clamp, and burst about a week later . Unfortunately, the 30 yr old hose had by that time gone to the dump. So I bought a Roadster factory hose. It went on OK, But cracked after one season. Apparently, a lot of the after market rubber is NG. Anyone found a universa replacement or domestic part that fills the bill? |

| Doug - Can't say that I've heard of a replacement that fits. Have you complained to the supplier you bought them from. I have always had good response from the top suppliers. I put a new one on when I was doing my total body-off restoration from 1987 to 1990. I bought it from Cox & Buckles in Richmond-on-Thames (now operates under the name of Moss Europe, located at:- Moss, London E-mail Address(es): sales@moss-europe.co.uk - Ask for Russell Scott and mention I told you) when I was buying about $3500.00 worth of stuff from Russell. The hose was (is) fine. But I bought a new one about a year ago from somewhere and still haven't put it on yet. Maybe I'll leave the one that has been on for 12 years (over 70,000 miles) in place and keep the other as a spare just in case. Anyone else heard of this problem recently ? | I just bought a new one from Moss Motors, but haven't put it on yet. It does not have the cloth covering. Hopefully, it's a quality item. Prior to buying that, I wondered if it was possible to buy a section (any make) with the correct inside diameter and make my own. Has anyone else tried this? I took the convenient route instead. We'll see come springtime. I would call both suppliers and ask for an explaination. Mike Gambordella '56 TR3 |
