Triumph TR3 - TR-3A Gearbox Conversion
| I have a '61 TR-3A with the 4-speed non-overdrive gearbox. I am looking to convert to an all-synchro overdrive gearbox. Should I be looking for a TR-4 or TR-4A box, or is there a later model TR-3 gearbox which would suit? What modificaions if any are required to switch to the different box? Thanks for any suggestions. |

| A TR4a trans will fit, The only problem will be the speedometer drive. It ends up right over the crossmember. You will need the right angle drive. I had a TR4a trans in my TR3. The shifter can be swapped with the current one. the TR4a used a bent shift lever, the TR3 is straight and shorter. |
