Triumph TR3 - TR-3 main bearing
| Hello to all, has anyone ever replaced the mainbearings on a TR-3 with the engine in the car? The Bently repair book says it can be done. I cant see how the bearing cap close to the flywheel can be removed with the gearbox in place? |

| Sure can! I have done this many times. It's a tight fit but once the two main cap bolts are removed start wiggling the bearing cap and it will come out. Why are you replacing mains? They usually don't wear much in a TR engine without causing scoring on the crank. Normally if you need mains you really need a bottom end overhaul. good luck, steve |
