Triumph TR3 - Tank straps
Hi Guys' I'm finnaly get there, after 4 years of restoring, the tr3 is nearly finnished.Still a question left... On the tank straps I have a section where you can fix something to, on the top, can anybody tell me what it is for.. Thanks Remo

Remo - All the tank straps I have seen consist of a steel strap about 30mm wide and shaped as an inverted "U" with flanges at the bottom where there are secured to the "tub" floor. I have never seen any with a hole, bracket or support at the top. Don Elliott, Original Owner, 1958 TR3A Give my regards to Hans Kooy. He should know all about this. http://www.zen21606.zen.co.uk/Forum%20Gallery/don3a2_big.jpg

Maybe a ground for the fuel sender? I think there is a ground wire eyelet that one of the hold down bolts goes thruogh. What does it look like? Like Don said, I don't think any of mine ever had anything on the top side of the straps.

Hi Remo: There is a fitting on top of the tank for the tank breather tube.It consists of a banjo bolt and banjo fitting with a tube that runs down from the tank and vents in the right rear wheel well.

Hi Guys, I did what Don said and have spoken to Hans Kooy.He has told me the following: The tank straps that I have are for an additional rear seat to hold the back of the seat. So he will send me a drawing how to connect the seat to the straps. Cheers Remo
