Triumph TR3 - speedometer error
| Hello out there: Does any body out there know what the error would be when using a speedometer from a non-overdrive car with a 3.7:1 rear end on an overdrive car with a 4.1:1 rear end. |

| With the ratios you mention, it may be out by 10.8% on the speed and on the mileage counters. My speedo broke recently and I sent it to Nisonger, just east of New York City for repair. Mine speedo has the digits 1180 printed on the front. My TR3A has a 3.7 rear end and overdrive. The crown gear in the diff. has 37 teeth and the pinion has 10 teeth. My speedo has a gear inside it with 20 teeth for the main odometer as well as for the trip counter. There is a calculation you can do based on a web-site explanation of this. You will probably have to send it away to have the gears inside changed. Check all about TR speedos at:- http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/arhodes/speedo.txt Or you can ask nisonger directly by e-mail at:- info@nisonger.com Don Elliott, 1958 TR3A |
