Triumph TR3 - Speedo cable routing
| Hi Don E. Can you post the exact routing of the speedo cable from your OD trans. Merci |

| Merry Christmas - Joyeux Noel Chuck My output is a brass threaded straight fitting from the overdrive gearbox (no 90 degree elbow) just under the rubber boots on the floor on the passenger's side. Remove the seat cushion, then the seat pan and carpets for access and to keep it all clean. Then remove the boots. It's all greasy around there. I used very long nose pliers to get mine out. It's not fast but it's necessary. The new cable goes from here - through a grometted hole in the frame forwards to the starter motor where it curves back up between the inner fender and the outside of the starter. Careful it doesn't get caught between the block and the starter. Then it curves up under Carb #2 to near the brass heater valve. Check it doesn't foul with the choke rods, etc. Then it curves over to the flat horizontal bodywork between the rear of the valve cover and the front of the battery. In the center there is a clip with a pan head screw to hold the clip down to the bodywork in the dead center in front of the battery. From there it goes through the firewall with a grommet in the hole - to the back of the dash. It's easier to put the grommet on the cable before you try to push it through the firewall. Push the cable through the large open hole - then squeeze the grommet into place in the hole. Bonne et heureuse annee ! Don Elliott, 1958 TR3A |
