Triumph TR3 - Sealing Gland carb jet assy
Hi Guys: Has anyone tried a neoprene O-ring in place of the cork seal(Moss 295-000)that is used to hold and seal the jet assy to the carb body? By the way I never heard from Brit Tool as to the headlight removal tool.Is the edge of the turned up portion sharpened as is a screwdriver to get between the rim and the rubber gasket?

I finally went and measured the one I have. The sheetmetal measures 0.059" thick over the black paint. The width is 5/8". The long length is 5". The short end turned up 90 degrees is 5/32" long, measured on the "inside" shorter side. The both ends are cut or sheared through at 90 degrees, that is, there is no taper on either of the ends. It's possible I bought mine from Brit Tool and I have it only for display purposes at concours shows - because I have screw-on headlight rims. Don Elliott, 1958 TR3A

Chuck: Yes, I have the o-rings in my carbs now. They're working perfectly after much frustration w/ the graphite covered cork version that TRF first sent me. Tech support later talked to they're shop rebuild guys and found they themselves were using the o-rings! I asked if, in the future they would switch to the o-rings in their rebuild kits. I don't know if they did or not. Check the TR3 archives from 08 July 2003, "Carburetor Rebuilds" - my thread on the whole ordeal. I would advise against the cork variety; they eventually leak anyway. The o-rinfgs have been in my carbs for almost a year and about 1500 miles - dry as a bone on the outside... Regards, Mike G. '56 TR3
