Triumph TR3 - Running too rich. Adjustment?
| My TR3 is running very rich and won't smooth out. I have tried to adjust the carbs slightly, but don't seem to be making and difference. Quick question,...which way do you turn the nut to lean out the carbs? Clockwise, (to the right), or counter-clockwise, (to the left)? Please advise. DT |

| Since the adjusting nuts screw in from the bottom and you're looking down, it's harder to describe. The nuts screw in as normal threads do. Just orient your mind like you're screwing in any fastener to get leaner, out to get richer. |

| I must be doing something wrong. No matter which way I turn the adjusting nut, the jet does not move. Am I supposed to loosen the jet locking nut first? DT |

| Danny-The spring that connects the jet lever to the carb body should keep the jet in contact with the adjusting nut. Try pulling out the choke knob (which will lower the jet) then pushing it in and make sure the jet is still contacting the nut. If that is not the case, the jet may require lubrication with a drop of oil or a dab of grease when fully lowered. Also, make sure the choke linkage is allowing the jet to completely return.
