Triumph TR3 - Removing body off the chassis
| Hi all, I am new to this forum. I own a tr3 which is currently being restored. I have so far removed all the panels and now would very much like to remove the body tub from the frame. From what I have been reading on forums etc., removal of the body tub is quite a risky job. There seems to be some danger of warpage of the tub which will result in great difficulty when trying to fit all the panels back on again. I've heard of bracing the tub but need someone here who could possibly explain how this is done, with some pics if possible. Many thanks |

| I did this a few years back. I took 1" angle iron and welded them inside the body on each side parallel. This stopped any buckling and kept the body stiff while I cut out the floor pans and welded in new, one at a time. Once all the body was back to being all metal with new rockers and sills, I removed the angle iron buy cutting away with the plasma cutter and then grinding down the welds.
