Triumph TR3 - Obtaining /Replacing lost ownership
| Hello TR3 fans in the Greater Ontario area I am normally on the TR6 BBS, but the chap who painted my car has a interesting 1960 TR3A which has been brought back to life after sitting in a dry garage since 1975. It is about to make it's way to Vancouver and then to Washington for 2 years before it spends the rest of it's days in Austraila. The brother-in-law of last registered owner can't find the ownership. When the garage went to the ministry to optain a replacement, upon giving the commission number (10-TS76017L) he was told they have no record of it. How would he obtain an ownership? Cheers Malcolm |

| The Comm. No. for a car imported into Canada would read "0" and not 10- Therefore he should ask for 0TS76017L Customs stamped the pre-fix numeral for the year. So "0" means 1960. Mine reads 8TS27489 LO which was imported in May 1958. I know because I am the original owner and still have it. It may be possible that it was not registered in Ontario, but in another province. | Mine is 2TS81417L, indicating sale date of 1962, though it was built in late 1960. His is not too much less than mine so it could be that it should have a 1 prefix i.e. its serial # should be 1TS81417L. Having said all that it wouldn't surprise me if the MTO still doesn't find it. Not sure what you do in that case, but I bet it will try your patience. Jim |

| Just went through getting a title for a 59 TR3A I brought into Canada from Penn. U.S.A. last Nov/05. Car was a "Barn Find" and only came with a bill of sale. There was no info at the Penn D.M.V. as to who the last owner was only the cars vin# with lots of blank spaces. Tried to deal with the operators @ the Penn. D.M.V. but could never get the same answer twice. So I hired a lawyer in Penn. and he was able to apply for a special archive search which resulted in us getting a owners name, who ended up deceased. Ended up having to get a Penn. Court Ordered Title through the courts, which the Ontario D.M.V. then turn in to a brand new Ontario Vechicle Permit. Hope it helps. Try getting "court ordered title" issued Best of luck Herb |
