Triumph TR3 - No rear axle drain plug?

I have a tr3a and there is no drain plug for the rear axle! I know that's crazy but there is nothing there. I have the shop manual and all parts manuals show a plug, but there's nothing there.

Thought that I would add a pic to illustrate. This is of the bottom laying under the car.

Looks like to me that you have a unit, which does not have a drain plug. In which case the way to drain the differential is by removing the rear face plate. Make sure you have fresh gaskets to replace with some good hylomar blue gasket sealer. Undo your bolts and break the seal over an open oil pan. Be prepared for a mess. When the oil drains out completely, remove the entire plate and gasket. Clean the mating faces and make sure no crud is in the bottom of the differential. Check the condition of the gears. Any repairs should be done now. Put back with fresh gasket and sealer. Fill with straight GL4. Do not use multi grade with GL5. It will ruin the works. You can get straight GL$ by Stalube from your Napa Dealership. Comes in one gallon jugs. Fill the unit, making sure the car is level, until the liquid flows back out. Then put the plug in. Make sure the breather spout on top is clear of crud and dirt. Need that open so it can breath when the pressure build up during driving.

You can also take this opportunity to drill a hole and tap in the threads to accept a plug. Use that flat area for this.
