Triumph TR3 - Lower door seals

I have just installed new Moss lower door seal rubbers and find that they appear to be to firm and stop the door from closing correctly. Are there different seals for different years? Is there a right and wrong way to install the seals?

My experience is that they are a bit harder rubber than they should be. But they'll get better as they mold themselves to the opening. It's just a lot harder to close the door.
