Triumph TR3 - Instrument Panel Bulbs
I am trying to put the correct lamps in the intrument panel on a restored TR3A. The warning and turn signal lamps seem to be different from the other (6) panel illumination lights. Can I use the same lamp for all these places or will that cause flasher or generator/regulator problems? What generic currently available part number lamp should I use in these places? The lamps that were in there are burnt out but seem to have a 1447 number on them and/or a 12 volt 2.2W Philips identification with a GT-BR there also. Unless I change the sockets for the lamps, which I do not want to do, they must have a screw base. I can order what Moss has in their catalog for the warning and turn signal lamps but should I trust Moss to supply the correct lamp? In a lamp catalog I have here it lists the 1447 as a lamp to be used on an electric train with a life of 250 hours. That does not seem right for the instrument panel on an automobile. The 1447 is also supposed to be obsolete. Any help is most welcome. hjr

I thought they were all the same, could be wrong. Don't your other lamps have a screw base also?

The original bulbs for the warning light and the turn signal light look like they are lower wattage than the other lamps. I broke down and ordered some from Moss so I will see what they send. They said the same bulb will work for all locations. Hope that does not give me dim speedometer, tach, gas gage, temp gage, oil press, and ammeter, illumination. hjr
