Triumph TR3 - ignition warning lite

tr friends,
when i start the engine on my 59 tr3a the ingnition warning lite stays on with the engine running.
the amp gauge shows a -30 discharge. when you turn the ignition switch off the engine keeps running until you disconnect the yellow to the ingition warning lite.
the ingnition warning lite is wired with a yellow wire to the ign. switch from the voltage regulator terminal
"d" and a white wire from the ign. warning lite to the ignition switch.
i have looked at three wiring diagrams and all show this is the way the ingnition warning lite is wired.
the voltage regulator and ignition switch are new.
the generator has been tested ok.
where could my problem be?
thanks,
payne

I'm not trying to insult you or anything, but it sounds like the wiring is just not correct yet. A little more studying of the diagrams will probably make you say "duh, what was I thinking".
Tom

tom,
i think you are right about needing to study the diagrams more. i feel i have something connected wrong but i haven't found it yet.when i find it i will let you know what is was.

tom,
i found my problem with my ign. warning light.
i was trying to connect it up wrong.
the yellow wire from the regulator term."d" needs to be connected to the ground term. on the ign. warning light.
their are two other terminals on the back of the ign. warning light[which are connected together].
a white wire[from the ign.switch] connects to one terminal and i was trying to connect the yellow wire to the 2nd term.the previous owner had a black wire already connected to the ground term.
when i placed the yellow where the black wire was connected the ign. warning light works ok.
thanks

I'm glad you found it. I'm also glad I didn't have to be the one tracing it, my eyes ain't what they used to be.
