Triumph TR3 - High ammeter reading

My TR3 (56) doesn't get out much, but when I do start it up, the ammeter reads +30 whenever I rev beyond idle. This happened a few years ago, and a new voltage regulator resulted in a reading of about +2 while driving.

Now I'm getting a +30 reading again. I've only driven it about 20 miles since installing the new regulator two or three years ago.

Can anyone tell me what might be causing this? Is it safe? Is my battery going to explode?

Thanks.
Chet

It's just charging your battery. If you were to take it out for a 200 mile drive, you would see the ammeter coming down towards zero.

What you see is normal for cars that arn't driven every day.

I agree, the battery charge is probably all you needed instead of the last regulator (control box) change.
