Triumph TR3 - Hard top backlight seal
| Using commonly available tools is there any easy way to install the filler strip in the sealing strip? I have spent about 8 hours with a screwdriver and 1/4 nut driver and so far I am only 1/4 done. hjr |

| I feel your pain. I have an aftermarket hardtop, different kind of seal. But I was at it for days. I was wondering why the glass guys were so easily persuaded for me to install it myself. I asked if they'd rather put it in, they were like "Oh no, that's fine if you want to do it!" When I was about 3/4 of the way done, of course, I put a scratch in the window. Will the scratch be there for a long time? Yes. They do make a tool with a curly pointed end like a pig's tail to get a little leverage by turning. I didn't have that. Your nearest glass installer would be a good source of info. Maybe you could trick or bribe them into installing it for you. |

| Been there done that!! Now what you need to do is take it to an auto glass shop. They have a small tool, it takes about 10 to 15 minutes to do. Luck for me that they let me do it and didn't charge me. I'm getting ready to do it again, I am replace my cracked back light with a new one from Moss UK. Not cheat, but should be right. | Thanks for the tips but stubborn as I am I finally got all the locking strip installed. It took about 4 days sweat and colorful language. (with several divits out of the seal and several scratches on the perspex--it already had several since this is the original backlight--47 years old but still fairly clear!) The local glass installers are of questionable expertise and I am about 100 miles from Kansas City and 200 miles from St. Louis. All the other rubber seals around the hard top went on quite easily. The next time, 47 years from now, I will let a glass installer do it. hjr |

| When you put so much sweat into it, it does give you a good feeling (to finally be done with it!). |
