Triumph TR3 - Gearbox Tunnel Seal
| Gents, What are some effective ways to seal around the mating surfaces of the gearbox tunnel, short of pumping in silicone sealant? I have a metal gearbox tunnel that was only held in place by three bolts. I've now got all the captive nuts cleaned out and should be able to get bolts in almost all the holes, but I can see that it's not water or oil tight...yet. Thanks for the tips. | I used seal and peel. It's like silicone but is used to seal windows in winter where you want to peel it off cleanly in the spring. I lay on my back under the car and smear it up into the gap between the vertical flange on the floor panels and the under-side of the gearbox tunnel. On the top side, I smear it to cover the bolt heads for the tunnel, the hoop area gap where the tunnel mates to the rear fixed d/shaft tunnel and all around the bell housing area on the g/box tunnel and bolt heads.
