Triumph TR3 - Flip Apron
| This is an interesting car in many ways, but the flip front apron is a kick! http://www.britishmotoring.net/bm0404/Clamshell_TR3A/Clam.html Wish there were more/bigger pics of the clamshell. |

| I have to admit that it's a neat modification. But how often do you really need to use it. When I restored my TR3A from 1987 to 1990, I used stainless steel screws everywhere and even had a machine shop make me about 120 square nuts (1/4" 28 UNF) to use in all my captive boxes. As a result, I can remove my bumper, grille , front valance and rad in about an hour. For the number of times that I need to do this (about once every 5 years), I figure that it took that TR owner more than a few hours to modify his TR to have his valance flip forward. I'll stick with originality. |
