Triumph TR3 - Engine formula
| So, what is a good engine formula for a streetable machine? I have read Kas Kastner's book, but do not intend to do track stuff. Any current cams that are not lopey? Efficiency and power are desired. |

| Being perfectly happy with stock, I'm not very good at this. But I think Crane or Piper have charts for these questions, and are willing to explain it all to you. Maybe someone else here or the TR4 threads have experience. I know the TR6 guys talk about cams and may have a suggestion too. |

| I still have the original cam in my TR3A that came with the car. It has never even been out. When I did my body-off restoration from 1987 to 1990, I put in new pistons, rings and liners for 1991 cc displacement. The engine is stock and it goes just fine. Many can't believe how it takes off. And in 15 summers, I've driven more than 87,000 miles. I suggest that you drive it the way it is and then decide later if you want more power. If you need new rings, etc. buy the larger size that gives 2137 cc displacement. But that can wait till next winter to be done or later.
