Triumph TR3 - Electrical Hook Ups
| Ohm-Heads, Watt's the ideal place from which to tap power for an electric fan on the radiator and/or an accessory radio/CD player on the TR3A? I'm concerned not only about safety (fuses) but also ensuring that the current draw of the device be reflected correctly on the ammeter. I only use a manual switch on my fan, so I don't need the fan to continue to run after I've removed the key from the ignition. Although I'm a positively grounded person, the TR has been converted to negative ground, and I run the original generator. Bill Stagg 1960 TR3A |

| I don't know about positive or negative except the smoke from a shorted Lucas system comes out the wires at the other end. I connected my fan (30 Amps starting) to the wire coming out of the ammeter. Not the inlet wire to the ammeter which comes right from the battery via the heavy solenoid starter cable. Then I went with a wire through a line-fuse to a switch that I manually click on and off. When on, power goes to a relay under the dash to turn on the "BIG" power to run the fan. Don Elliott |
