Triumph TR3 - Commision Numbers

I recently accuired a 61 TR3A, the commision #s seem to be in the series manufactured in '59. Does that make sense?

Tom - With British cars, anything is possible. If the car was built as you say and imported, but sat at a dealers until 1961, it would have been registered as a 1961.

As a second possibility, if the first owner sold it in, say 1962, he might have sold it as a 1961 (one year old) when in fact he may have been driving it for 2 or 3 years.

If it has been restored, and two cars were bought to make one usable TR3A, that person may have kept the paperwork from the 1961 TR.

(note that Canadian Imports were stamped with a pre-fix No. to the Comm. No. - in my case with an "8" so that people couldn't fool around or change the year).

Thank You Don, that makes sense. I will be in your home town this weekend. My wife and I are going up to see the Habs play and enjoy the city for a couple days.
