Triumph TR3 - Brake Rotors Warped
| The back of the master cylinder box broke this summer and caused the brakes to lock up on me. I limped the car the mile back home and ended up warping my rotors. They shake real good with light pressure on the pedal but settle right down when you hit the brakes firmly. Can turning the rotors take the warp out of them, assuming of course they aren't out of spec once turned? They seem to get worse after the brakes get warmed up from use. Does that indicate terminal damage to them? Thanks, Marty |

| Marty - It's not hard to take the rotors out of a TR3A and when you do, take them to a shop that turns rotors. Chat to him about the problem. He can mount them on his machine and, if he has a dial indicator can tell you how much he'll have to take off. I had mine turned down about 0.020" at 80,000 miles when I did my full body-off restoration in 1990 and the are still perfect a full 70,000 miles later at 150,000 miles. Give it a try. By the way, I know a TR3A and TR4 owner in Cedar Falls who knows more than I do about these "toys". The TR4 is a race car. E-mail me off line directly if you want to get in touch with him.
