Triumph TR3 - Attachment interior 1/4 panel to B post
There is a channel inside the "B" post on both sides of the cockpit where the interior quarter panel (and furflex)attaches to the "B" post. One side of my 1959 TR3 has some sort of twisted up stuff in this channel where the screws that attach the interior quarter panel go and works fine. The other side is so deteriorated that it no longer will secure the screws. My question is: "What should I use in this channel to replace the stuff that was originally in there?". Someone who has recently restored a TR3 has probably had to replace this fiberous stuff. But with what? Wood? Rope? Twisted and crushed kraft paper? TRF does not have a part nor can I find a part in the Moss or VB catalogs. There are three little metal tabs that hold the stuff in place. The channel measures about 11 inches by 1/2 inch by 1/2 inch. Any proven ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! hjr

hjr, the twisted fiber type of material in my 59 tr was in the same shape as your car. i replaced it with a piece of soft wood that i cut to fit.it worked ok. payne

I used soft wood on both the TR3As that I restored.

Been a while, I think I put some glue on a piece of rope and stuffed it in there.
