Triumph TR3 - Ammeter Conversion
I must replace the ammeter on my 1962 TR3B. It had a Lucas spade type guage. During restoration (completed about 1 year ago) I installed a new wiring harness--spade connectors. The used Lucas ammeter I acquired is screw type. I would rather not cut and splice a new harness. Is there a way to convert the screw type to a spade harness without splicing? I know that I could wait for the right ammeterbut good running weather is going to be hard to find and I want back on road. Thanks for any help and for any leads to a quick spade typr ammeter. Gary

Gary you could put a pig tail on the screw type by attaching a short wire with a male spade to go to the harness and a eye type to go to the meter, untill you find a suitable meter. Malcolm

M McDonald, Thanks for your quick suggestion. When I looked closer at the failed ammeter I realized that the male spade on the guage was not integral to the guage, but rather was a separate piece held in by the screw which holds the wire on the replacement guage. It is a simple matter to change the spade fittings to the replacement ammeter. Hopefully I saved someone else from making the same foolish mistake. Thanks again for your help. I'm sure I'll need more in the future. Gary
