Triumph TR3 - Alignment of fan pulley to TDC
Anyone have a handy suggestion to determine T.D.C for No.1 piston so I can correctly align the pulley with the timing hole in it? Thanks ...HARRY

I think there's a mark on the distributor body where #1 plug fires. Both valves will have clearance. #1 plug removed, you should feel the top of the piston stop moving upward with a wire or something stuck in there (don't drop it in). You may not need all this info, but it will confirm the crank is where you want it to be. A manual will probably just tell you the position of the crank keyway at TDC.

Thanks for the idea - a wire clothes hanger did the trick..........! Harry
