Triumph Spitfire - Strange kit car
A guy in my neighborhood has a Triumph Spitfire 1500 that has had some kind of fiberglass kit car body mounted on it. It's not a convertible, more like some kind of GT car like a Ferrari or something. It looks like a Bricklin (remember those?) or maybe a Saab Sonnet. It's kind of wedgy in the front with a Maserati-style rearend. The hood has a scoop with two openings in it. Under the front is another wide scoop. The back has a huge window and slopes downward. The whole body has a much wider, lower appearance than a standard Spitfire body. If anyone has any idea what this is, email me your phone number and I will give you a call. Or just email the name of the kit. Thanks a lot.

Michael, Sorry - even a thousand words may not convey the picture - I have no idea. But a coupe with that 'huge' back window, sloping down and a 'Maserati' rear - not a GT6 with a special bonnet fitted? This site doesn't offer pictures - if you will take a picture and go to the Totally Triumph Net, you can post it there for all to see. John

This sounds like a 'Sebring rooof kit".Applied to a Spitfire Conv. to race at Sebring in the late '60's (later at LeMans). This was a fctory racing effort.RayC Tr=Tools Required
