Triumph Spitfire - Spit racing air dams etc.
| Got my 1500 well sorted but would like a better racing front spoiler. Seen one in US from PRIRACE for $500!!!! No way. Any better ideas, ive seen a couple of good ones attatched to UK racing spits. Also does anyone have any advice on roll cages, like who makes em.... Cheers! Calum (UK) |

| Hi, Calum! On the front of my racing Vitesse I have a splitter/spoiler , that looks the part and that I made myself. The splitter part is cut from a marine ply sheet, bolted to the underside of the chassis rails, behind the point where they curve upwards to the bumper. Built up on that are two GRP panels, shaped to interlock with the inside of the front valance. I made these by making steel formers, screwed to the splitter, laying up the GRP on those and then removing the formers. Air intakes for brake cooling are incorporated. The 'wings' of the splitter are supported by lengths of threaded rod from the extremities of the bumper cross bar. The splitter/spoiler is self-supporting, and is not fixed to the front valence. It has proved quite robust, although the forward projection at low height of the splitter is a problem on public roads, from kerbs and trafiic humps! I'll send you a picture if you wish. |
