Triumph Spitfire - Replacement of differential case bushings

Has anyone any idea how to remove those two metalastik bushes at the rear of the diff casing? I already broke my vise while trying to force bushes out with two sockets. Haynes manual does not describe the procedure, neither does factory shop manual.

You could try burning them out, or you might try drilling a series of holes around the centre (metal part) of each bush, which should be enough to weaken it so that it can be forced out.

I am getting ready to do this myself. The way I was told to do it was to heat the rubber up until the center bush would come out, and then take a hacksaw and cut down to and through the outer one. Then you should be able to press out the bush.
I am going to put in aluminum bushes there to raise the diff in the car.

Good Luck
