Triumph Spitfire - Proper fit of hood for mkII spit
| I have the stowable soft top (with the top bow) for my mkII spit. Problem: the top peals away from the windscreen at speed. Is there supposed to be something more to connect the top to the screen than a simple friction-fit? I was at the Robbins top co., and they thought maybe there was supposed to be a slim piece of metal that fits through the front loop of the convertible top, and which then fits in to the slot along the top of the windscreen. If this is so, where can I get one? Or what are it's dimensions so that I can fabricate one? Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

| You're spot on with regard to the metal strip on the leading edge of the hood. What you should have on your hood are 1 corner popper each side of the screen and then you will notice that the alluminium capping on the screen frame slightly overhangs the frame itself (if you have the right one that is). You should have a thin metal plate attched to the leading edge of the hood which slots under this overhang and secures your hood safely. If you give me an e-mail I'll see if I can get my brother to remove his and measure it up for you. Regards Toby |
