Triumph Spitfire - Need help with Overdrive
| Greetings, I'm working on getting a '76 Spitfire on the road. I do have enough common sense to realize what I can and can't do, mechanically speaking. I've been working with a mechanic who specializes in TR's to get the overdrive working properly. We're all stumped and can use some advice. The Overdrive unit will always engage by itself after the car has been driven for about 10-20 minutes. We completely disconnected the solenoid from the power source to localize the problem and the unit still engages by itself. After the car is shut off and sits for about 30-60 minutes, it works fine for about 15 minutes then engages itself again. I appreciate any suggestions you have. Peter |
